Juurella-maalaussarjassa tarkastelen pohjaa, aluskasvillisuutta, juuria. Onko olemassa suuntia, entä alkuja ja loppuja? Vai onko varmaa vain jatkuva muutos ja syklisyys? Näyttelyn teossarja sai alkunsa Pohjois-Karjalan lapsuuden maisemissa. Tutun lähimetsän äärellä hiljentyessä asetun tarkkailemaan itseäni. Tunnistan punoksen ja voimaverkon, joka sitoo kaiken läsnäolevan yhteen. Metsästä muodostuu kehoni jatke, jossa minuuteni kietoutuu puiden juurakon sykkivään suonistoon. Ajattelen muistoja, jotka ovat kiinnittyneet ympäristöönsä jännitteiseksi rihmastoksi. Metsässä olen sisällä, olen osana, olen yhteydessä. Täällä aine on jatkuvassa kierrossa, kun jotain päättyy, uusi saa alkunsa ja lopulta muutumme kaikki toisiksemme.

In the oilpainting series At the Roots, I explore the floor, undergrowth, and what is beneath. Are there directions, beginnings and endings? Or is only change a certanity? The series originates from the my childhoods landscapes of North Karelia during my childhood. By the familiar forest, as I quiet down, I begin to observe myself. I recognize the weave and power grid that binds all that is present together. The forest becomes an extension of my body, where my being intertwines with the pulsating veins of the tree roots. I reflect on memories that have become intertwined with their environment into a tense network. In the forest, I am inside, I am a part, I am connected. Here, matter is in constant circulation; as something ends, something new begins, and ultimately, we all transform into one another.
